From mid-November until the end of January, each year, Efteling Theme Park in the Netherlands (about an hour and 10 min from Amsterdam) is transformed into ‘Winter Efteling’ with thousands of twinkling lights, a covering of snow and huge bonfires to keep you warm and lots of different types of hot chocolate to choose from.
There’s an array of festive, live entertainment and shows plus a wide range of winter attractions for the whole family e.g. ice skating, cross country skiing, a snow slide for kids…….and what’s more they are all free of charge!
Spend the day on thrilling rollercoasters; try the dive coaster, Baron 1898 with its 123 ft. vertical drop or Joris en de Draak, the double track rollercoaster where you can race your neighbours. If you prefer a more leisurely pace; then glide through a land of fairies and trolls on Droomvlucht or take the miniature train and admire the lush surroundings which change with the season. Feeling peckish, then there are delicious snacks to be had around the park, alternatively, visit one of sit down restaurants. Visit Polles Keuken, of Guinness Book of Records fame, for the largest pancake stack; where you can choose from over 25 different sweet or savoury pancakes! Find the magic tap and watch the pots and pans dance! Don’t miss Europe’s largest water show, Aquanura, on each evening as the park closes, marvel at the breath-taking colourful water show set to music, fire and spectacular lights.
There is so much hidden adventures for your little people so everyone in the family is kept entertained. It doesn’t disappoint.
After a magical day you’ll have only one wish: to do it all over again! So why not book an overnight stay in one of Efteling’s hotels or holiday villages; where you can choose from a lakeside lodge, woodland cottage, tree house, cabin in the sand dunes or a fairy-tale themed suite. Great value for money with a family of 4 staying from only €360 (based on 1 night with breakfast and 2 days park entry)
